About The Hereford Charity Pool League

The league evolved in the Winter of 1999 out of concerns surrounding the miss-management of the existing Hereford League. From the outset, the league set a criteria – to raise monies for charities. Straight away, the league started with 20 teams. Every season since, the league has grown in size – at the time of writing, we start our winter season (2006/07) with 80 teams & others still wishing to join!

The league set out with a clear objective, putting the fun back into the game – making a Thursday night out around Hereford enjoyable once more. Not withstanding that, should a team win their respective league they would have the opportunity to donate at least £200 to the charity of their choice.

Despite some initial ridicule, the league has grown, retaining its friendly image & laying to rest any myth about it being a non-competitive league. It is now the largest league in the area by far & has been able to donate over £23,000 to local and national charities!

Those of us who endeavour to run the league do so for pleasure & not personal gain – we don't always get everything right and will no doubt continue to make the odd error along the way. However, when all is said & done, we listen to our fellow competitors and hope (and believe) that they know we do try to use all criticism constructively.

Pool is a game and should enjoyed by one and all – we go one step further and try to help those who are out there working to help the less fortunate in our community!
A big thank you to all the pubs, clubs and players for supporting the Hereford Charity Pool League.

Kind Regards
